Why is my hair not growing much?

I have 3 front layers that have not grown in length I trimmed my hair a year ago and my hair is still the same why? Just so you are aware I use the curling iron a lot and I dye my hair every month because I'm tring to get my hair into a deep red burgundy, could it be that dyeing my hair a lot is impeding w my hair growth? Also when I use the straightener I some times hear like a cracking sound as I straighten my hair! Plz help and advise me on how to make my hair grow very long!!!
