Democracy of St. Titus?

In 1365, Gradenigo, chief of the Venician noble in Crete island, in cooperation with the chief of Cretans John Kallergis, sized power in the capital Chandax and declared Crete independent of Venice, under the name "most serene Democracy of St. Titus". Venice sent 30 ships and recaptured the island after a bloody war, which it sent Petrarcha to record as a Venician Historian (most unfair, needless to say). Is there anything more known about this incident and war?
