Would decorating an electric outdoor light fixture with paper be a fire hazard?

Even using low watt bulbs in my porch light make it far too bright for my needs. Not to mention it shines directly into my neighbor's bedroom window. I would like to line the interior gl panes with decorative cardstock to diffuse the light. I would not be using any type of adhesive. No paper would be touching the bare bulb but it still concerns me. Thanks!
